Notes from Conrad Mandsager
Conrad Mandsager
As I rode my bike through the bush at dawn each morning, I passed many men, women, and children making their way to their gardens, to market, or to school. That alone is remarkable evidence of the change that is occurring in northern Uganda. Just three years before, out of fear of the rebels still active in the area, you would not have dared venture into the bush without a military escort. Even if you did, the roads would be empty; since most people had abandoned their land and were living in displacement camps. Now, with the security situation more stable, people are beginning to move home…

Several girls who have been at the Lukodi Centre in northern Uganda are now transitioning back to their homes and communities! That is certainly a cause for celebration! These child mothers came to the ChildVoice Centre, bedraggled and demoralized from life in the bush.  And now, they have moved home, having learned vocational and parenting skills, ready to face the future with confidence and education.

ChildVoice is celebrating with them and supporting them in their transition. And as these girls are arriving home and contributing to their communities, ChildVoice is welcoming another group of 17 girls to the Centre.

Won't you come along and join us in helping these child mothers gain the skills they need to be a vital force in their communities? Help to bring them hope. Give them a voice. A voice that they can pass on to their children and a voice they can share with the people of the communities to which they are returning.

Your gift of $500, $200, $100, $50 or even $20 will assist ChildVoice in providing housing, nutrition, education, and spiritual and emotional growth to children and their families who desperately yearn for ways to cope with the horrifying events that have shaped their lives. With your assistance, ChildVoice can help them.

Remember, a monthly gift would help ChildVoice even more! Click on the Amplified! link for more information!.

Thank You

More about the IRP
What is an IRP (Individualized Reintegration Plan)?
Once a child mother enters the program at the Lukodi Centre, she meets with the staff to set goals for her education, her parenting and her overall health. As she moves through the program, her plan is often revisited, even through her transition back to her community.
