Patricia, the cook at the ChildVoice Centre in Lukodi, has endured unspeakable suffering and rejection in her young life. At age 11, she was captured and taken to the bush, forced to live with the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). After two years of enduring the horrifying experiences with the LRA, Patricia managed to escape and tried to find her way home. Eventually, she found her way to a home at ChildVoice, where she is using her skills to care for her young son and rebuild her life.

Not Again...
As America celebrates the inauguration of a new administration this week, there is a sense of renewed hope all across America, and even across the globe. In Africa, there is an amazing solidarity with Obama because of his Kenyan roots and the hope that he will leverage his position as the most powerful man in the world to bring a new focus on the issues that continue to besiege the continent.

Albright. Her name says it all. The daughter of a former child soldier, she runs happily around the ChildVoice Lukodi Centre with a zip and zest for life. Thankfully, she has been spared the horrendous first- hand experiences of the Lord's Resistance Army. Still she is picking up the pieces. She lives under the looming issues of her community. Poverty. Violence. Broken families. Death. Yet she has hope. It is in her eyes.
